We had a great ride back to the Canso Causeway and on to Antigonish where we turned east on the number 7 highway. This route took us to the coast along a route that none of us has yet explored. It was a great ride even with all the culvert work they were doing. It wasn’t hard to tell as we got closer and closer to the water as the temperatures got cooler and cooler....23 degrees was quite refreshing by the time we arrived there. A quick stop in Sherbrooke for a bum break, a little water and some cinnamon buns purchased at the bakery we stopped at for breakfast and we were off again.
Next stop was in Sheet Harbour so that Jerry could take a “guess where I am” picture to send to his brother who was first posted there when he graduated. I took the opportunity to call my own brother who rode out to meet us in Musquodoboit Harbour and show us around his neck of the woods. This would be the first time my brother and I had an opportunity to ride together.
He led the way to Seaforth, a stop we all made to commemorate a friend we lost in 2020. Terry rode with this crew on our last big trip in 2019 and since we were all together again a stop at Hope for Wildlife gave us an opportunity to remember him and his generosity. While he couldn’t join us in person, he has been with us the entire trip in spirit.
On leaving Seaforth we followed Joel through some great riding roads to Highway 107, a side trip road and then he deposited us at the MacDonald bridge to cross over to our hotel.
To say we are all a little tired would be an understatement as we have had 3 really big days (if you count the day to get to North Sydney). Tomorrow should be a little more leisurely, more about seeing sights.
It was hard not to end the day without ice cream which seems to be a favourite amongst this crew. Lucky for them I knew exactly where to find Cows Ice Cream on the boardwalk and even had a little myself.
